Use this guide when a Year Head wants to stop emails for each absence or late note, but still receive general Note From Parent emails.
Change the email settings, not the staff member’s access. Leave their email address, assigned classes, Approval Access and Module Access unchanged.
1. Find the correct Year Head record
- Sign in to uniqueschoolapp.ie and open Access & Permissions.
- Find the record for the relevant Year Head. Check the Emails and Class columns to make sure it is the correct entry.
- Check the Type column: 1 = First Year, 2 = Second Year, and so on. Choose the numbered Year Head record—not a record with Type Parent Note.
- Select the Edit pencil at the right of that row.
2. Turn off the individual emails
In the settings table, find the Individual Email column and untick:
- Absentee — to stop individual absence-note emails.
- Late Note — to stop individual late-note emails.
Leave the other settings unchanged. For example, do not untick Approval Access simply to stop emails.
Scroll to the bottom and click Submit to save.
3. Keep general parent-note emails
General Note From Parent emails are managed in a separate record with Type Parent Note. Leave that record and its Parent Note → Individual Email checkbox enabled if the staff member should continue receiving those emails.
See how to update Parent Note recipients.
Check the change
Reopen the numbered Year Head record and confirm the Absentee and Late Note boxes under Individual Email are unticked.
If the staff member still receives individual absence or late-note emails, check whether their email address is included in another relevant access record. If you are unsure which record to change, contact staffsupport@uniqueschools.ie.
More than one email address on the record? The module settings are on the record, not beside each email address. If only one recipient needs different settings, contact support before changing a shared record.
