App Engagement Overview

Monitor engagement, registrations, and SMS usage at a glance.

The App Engagement Overview provides a clear snapshot of how your school community is engaging with the app. It highlights key activity, registration levels, and communication metrics in one place.


What You Can See

Total App Opens (Since Start of Academic Year)

This shows how many times the app has been opened since the beginning of the school year.

Tracking app opens gives valuable insight into parent engagement and communication reach.

On average, schools with approximately 500 students see between 5,000 – 10,000 app opens per month.

Most schools also achieve 99%+ parent onboarding, demonstrating strong engagement when the app is embedded properly.

 

 


Families Onboarded (Most Important Metric)

The Families figure represents one registered parent/guardian per student.

This is the most important onboarding statistic because:

  • It confirms that at least one parent/contact per student is registered.
  • It ensures the student is fully represented on the app.
  • It guarantees official communication can reach the family.

You can click “View” to see which families are not yet registered and follow up directly.

 

 


Incoming First Year Families

Located just underneath the current year families, this section allows you to:

  • Track onboarding of incoming First Years
  • Monitor registration progress before September
  • Ensure smooth transition and communication for new families

This makes it very easy to stay on top of new intake engagement.

Parent Onboard Stats

This figure represents all parents/contacts registered (both primary and secondary contacts).

While useful, this metric is less critical than the Families figure, because:

  • A student may have two parents registered
  • We only require at least one registered parent per student for full representation

The key priority is that every student has at least one registered family contact.

 

 


Students Onboarded

This shows how many students are registered on the app.

This becomes particularly important if your school is using:

  • Team Manager
  • Student communication features
  • Canteen

If using Team Manager, the goal should be to have all students registered, ensuring:

  • Communication reaches parents, teachers, and students
  • Attendance syncing works correctly
  • Fixture and training notifications are received
 

 


Remaining SMS Credits

SMS alerts are automatically used for:

  • Absence Requests
  • One-Time Password (OTP) codes during registration
  • Primary contacts who are not yet registered on the app

If a student has no app representation, the primary contact will receive an SMS prompting them to download and register.

You can also use the Send SMS option when sending News, Notifications, Personal Notifications or Payments to reach unregistered users.

  • Click “Top-Up”
  • You will be redirected to the purchase page

Demo students listed under “US Support” are for the Unique Schools Support team.
They are not included in your engagement figures and can be ignored.
