Creating Sports

Why This Comes First

Before you can create teams, fixtures, or training sessions, you must first create a Sport. Sports act as the top-level category within Team Manager. Once a Sport is created, you can then add teams under it and begin scheduling fixtures and trainings.

Think of it like this: Sport → Team → Fixtures & Trainings → Communications & Attendance

This guide walks you through setting up your first Sport.

Step-by-Step: Creating a Sport

1. Log In

Go to uniqueschoolapp.ie and log in if you’re not already signed in.

2. Open Team Manager

From the main dashboard:

  1. Click Team Manager
  2. Then click Sports from the left-hand side menu

3. Choose How to Add Your Sport

You now have two options:

Option A: Add Sport (Manual)

Use this if you want to fully customise the sport.

  1. Click Add Sport
  2. Fill in the fields shown

You will be asked to enter details such as:

  • Name of Sport
  • Icon
  • Number of starters
  • Number of substitutes
  • Other sport-specific settings

This option allows you to import from a list of pre-configured sports templates that we’ve already created for you.

  1. Click Get Sports
  2. Select the sport(s) you want

These templates automatically include:

  • Starters
  • Substitutes
  • Common sport configurations

This is the fastest and easiest option.

4. Assign Coaches to Your Sport

If you import a sport (or after creating one manually), you must assign Coaches to it.

To do this:

  1. Find the sport in your list
  2. Click the Edit (pencil) icon on the right-hand side
  3. Select the relevant coach(es) from your staff list
  4. Save

⚠️ This step is important — only assigned coaches will be able to manage teams and activities within that sport.

What Happens Next?

Once your Sport has been created, you’re ready to:

  • Create your first Team
  • Add students
  • Schedule fixtures
  • Add training sessions
