Remove an Absentee Note or Mark a Student Present

What parents can remove, what staff can do, and how to handle a student who attends.

Use this guide when a parent has submitted an Absentee note that is no longer needed, or the student attends school despite a submitted absence note.

Parents can remove their own Absentee notes

Ask the parent to do the following in the school app:

  1. Open Attendance.
  2. Choose Absentee.
  3. Select the date the note was submitted for on the calendar.
  4. Use the option to remove the note.

Check the child and the date carefully before removing a note.

Can school staff delete the note?

No. Staff cannot currently delete submitted notes. If the note needs to be removed, ask the parent to use the steps above.

What if the student is present?

The teacher taking the roll can overwrite the absence entry for that day and mark the student Present. Staff should record the student’s actual attendance; they do not have to wait for the parent to delete the note before marking a student present.

Removing a note and marking attendance are different actions. The parent removes the submitted note in the app; the teacher records the student’s attendance during roll call.

Need help with another type of note?

The removal steps above are for Absentee notes. For a late note, permission-to-leave request or another correction, contact staffsupport@uniqueschools.ie for the appropriate next step.
