Bí Cineálta progress bar: what to check if it stays below 100%

Check saved checklist actions, handle items that do not apply, and get help if a closed report still shows incomplete progress.

Use this guide if a Bí Cineálta / Appendix 3 report still shows a low progress percentage, such as 25%, after you have completed your work or closed the record.

Closing a report does not, by itself, guarantee 100% progress. The report status and the checklist action statuses are separate. Check the saved actions rather than relying on the percentage alone.

1. Check and save the checklist actions

  1. Open Reports in Bí Cineálta / Appendix 3 and select the report's reference number.
  2. While the record is open and editable, select 4. Checklist Of Actions.
  3. Check each relevant action. Adding a communication or writing notes is not a substitute for checking the action's status.
  4. Click the + beside an action. Choose the status that accurately reflects the work: Not started, Waiting, Requested or Completed.
  5. Add relevant factual notes, then click Update in the action window.
  6. Repeat for the other relevant actions, then click Update at the bottom of the checklist.

Only use Completed for an action that has actually been completed. Follow your school's current Bí Cineálta procedures when deciding which actions and follow-up are required.

2. Check the saved record and refresh the list

  1. Return to Reports after saving.
  2. Open the record again and check that the action statuses and notes have been retained.
  3. Return to the Reports list and refresh the browser once to check the latest displayed percentage.

Refreshing reloads the displayed information; it does not complete missing actions or guarantee that the percentage will change. There is no separate Recalculate progress control on the report screens described here.

What if an action does not apply?

The current checklist status menu does not include a Not applicable option. Where you can edit the action, add a brief factual note explaining why it does not apply and save the note.

Do not mark an unperformed action as Completed, add irrelevant files or create unnecessary communications solely to reach 100%. Contact staffsupport@uniqueschools.ie for advice on how the non-applicable item should be handled in the progress calculation. A note saying “not applicable” should not be assumed to change the percentage.

What if the report is already closed?

A closed report can still display a percentage below 100%. If the editing controls are no longer available, contact your school's Bí Cineálta administrator or Unique Schools support to review the record. Do not create a duplicate report or change its status simply to try to reset the bar.

Still below 100%?

If the saved record accurately reflects the completed work but the percentage still looks incorrect, email staffsupport@uniqueschools.ie with:

  • Your school name and the report reference number.
  • The displayed percentage and whether the report is Open, Resolved or Closed.
  • The relevant checklist statuses and which items do not apply.
  • Whether the updates remain saved when you open the record again.

If you include a screenshot, crop or redact student names and incident details. Support can investigate the calculation; this guide does not promise that saving or closing will force the bar to 100%.
